Bio

Dr. Zvereva has completed her Psychiatry Residency and Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Cedars- Sinai Medical Center. With her mentor Jeffrey Wilkins MD, Chief of Addiction Cervices at Cedars-Sinai Psychiatry Department she has been instrumental in establishing the first ACGME accredited fellowship in Southern California and serving as a first Addiction Psychiatry Fellow. She is Board-Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry as well as ASAM –Certified in Addiction Medicine.

Since her graduation in 2002 Doctor Zvereva has been employed as a consultant at Betty Ford Center, Rancho Mirage, transitioning to West LA Outpatient Clinic in 2015 where she had been performing complex psychiatric evaluations of dually diagnosed patients, lecturing to patients, running medication groups with the nursing staff, participating in Chemical Dependency Evaluations of Professionals, referred by different professional agencies. Dr.Zvereva retired from Betty Ford Center in 2021.

 In her private practice Doctor Zvereva had worked in close collaboration with agencies such as:

  1. Musicares Substance Abuse Program performing inpatient detoxification protocols, and outpatient evaluations and medication management of music industry employees and musicians.

  2. Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under Stuart Silverman MD and David Silver MD, national-known experts in the field of fibromyalgia and other rheumatologic conditions. Dr. Zvereva has special interest and training in non-opiate pain management of chronic pain conditions as well as treatment of chronic pain in patients with history of substance dependence.

  3. Lawyers Assistance Program-as an Expert evaluating and treating psychiatrist for attorneys dealing with mental and substance abuse disorders.

  4. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)-Performing psychiatric and substance abuse evaluations of the aviation industry professionals, initiating SSRI Protocol Treatment Psychiatric Evaluations of the pilots.

Other important experiences: Dr. Zvereva has extensive experience in working with dually diagnosed patients with severe mental illness and substance abuse at Portals Intensive Case Management Program at Department of Mental Health of Los Angeles County, and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
She has worked with dually diagnosed Adolescents at Aviva Family and Children Services in Los Angeles County and Medically Directed Benchmark Transitions for Young Adults Residential Treatment Program in Redlands, CA

Doctor Zvereva performs comprehensive psychiatric consults of dually diagnosed patients and develops treatment strategies based on the evidence-based practices, such as cognitive-behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, utilizing 12-step involvement and pharmacological management. She works in collaboration with psychologists, therapists, inpatient and outpatient treatment programs as well as sober living houses.

Doctor Zvereva performs the following pharmacologic management of substance abuse /dependence:
Opiate dependence: inpatient Suboxone detoxification/ outpatient maintenance, Naltrexone/Vivitrol maintenance
Alcohol Dependence: Campral, Naltrexone, Disulfiram (Antabuse), Topamax (topiramate)
Nicotine Dependence: Chantix, Zyban, Nicotine patches, inhalers, gums, lozenges.

Dr. Zvereva has participated as a Chair and presenter at various CSAM Conferences and Regional Dinners. She has co-authored Chapter 5 in third Edition of Principles of Addiction Medicine “Management of Intoxication and Withdrawal from Club Drugs, Cocaine, Marijuana and PCP”

Dr.Zvereva had taught at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine as a Voluntary Faculty member 2017-2021, training three generations of Addiction Psychiatry Fellows and creating a clinical Addiction Psychiatry rotation for Psychiatric Residents at West LA Hazelden Betty Ford Outpatient Program in West LA, CA.
At the present time Dr.Zvereva had begun teaching “Spirituality and 12-step in Addiction Medicine” to Psychiatric Residents at Ventura County Medical Center, Ventura, CA
